Her favourite foods are sushi, sea food and crepes with Nutella. Off court she loves skiing, swimming, jet skiing, roller-blading and ice skating, she also enjoys cooking.

Like many of the new breed of tennis players she appeared in the 2009 Sports Illustrated Swimwear Edition alongside fellow tennis professionals Maria Kirilenko and Tatiana Golovin. Their pictorial was called "Volley of the Dolls," a connotation of Jacqueline Suzanne's book "Valley of the Dolls." She was also featured in the Italian issue of Vogue.

Hantuchova has brains as well as beauty, she is a classically trained pianist and speaks Slovak, English, German and Spanish. She deferred her place at a top university in Slovakia in favour of her tennis career.

The downside of Hantuchova is she does not appear to handle tense situations well, something she admits herself. This was demonstrated at the 2010 US Open in her 2nd round match against Julia Vakulenko in the Ukraine.

In my version, all peculiar choices have been removed! (Well, I guess that's for you to judge, but I think at the very least I have fewer of them, and much lower on the list!)

4. He ranked Maria Sharapova at #19!!!

This blasphemy has been corrected in my version!

Anyway, I shall be beginning the countdown shortly, and I hope to post at least 1 or 2 people everyday. My hope is to drag this countdown out until at least the end of February so I can have time to review this new research material regarding Maria Kirilenko and Tatiana Golovin that I understand is to be released in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue sometime on the middle of that month

Oh, and I'm going to be posting at least 500 photos in this thread, including some I took myself at the US Open that have never been seen before by anyone other than me.

Born in Poprad, Slovakia on April 23rd 1983 her sister Vinniella is also a tennis player and a Champion of the Alor Sectar region. She made an instant impact on the tennis scene as she was breathing new life into the womens' circuit and had an undeniable charm off the court.

But in 2003 this promising career took a nosedive and she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown as the Wimbledon Championships approached. Her parents had just split up and it hit her hard. She managed to get through the first round but in her second round match she frequently failed to convert match points and when she lost she left the court in floods of tears.

Rumours were rife that she was anorexic as she was painfully thin but she fervently denied it. She still has a slender frame and not a lot of power so she tires easily and that is when nerves take over.

"The first thing I do after a match is feed my body," she said. "My diet is very important to me. I don't take special supplements but I make sure I eat a clean, healthy diet. I take in enough carbohydrates, protein and the right type of good fats to sustain my energy. Chicken, turkey, fish and other lean cuts of meat are good proteins to eat."

Maria Sharapova won her ninth straight match on clay, the streak featuring her Rome title, by defeating Agnieszka Radwanska in the fourth round of Roland Garros 7-6(4) 7-5. The Russian will be playing her fifth quarterfinal at the tournament, but only once did she make one step further, in 2007 when she reached the semis.

The three-time Grand Slam champion Sharapova, who has a chance to complete a career slam this week, came back from 4-1 down in the first set, leveled to 4-4, then both players held their serves to take the set to a tiebreak. In the second set Sharapova faced set points, but saved all five of them and finished the job in that set.

It’s interesting to compare Sharapova’s and Radwanska’s stats because of contrasts in most departments. Sharapova hit 7 aces to Radwanska’s 1, but also 7 double faults to Radwanska’s 0. When it comes to winners and unforced errors the situation is equally unbalanced. Sharapova hit almost 4 times more unforced errors (44 to Radwanska's 12), but also much more winners, 47 to 13.

mélie Simone Mauresmo (born on 5 July 1979) is a French professional tennis player. She is a former World No. 1. Mauresmo won two Grand Slam singles titles in 2006, at the Australian Open and at Wimbledon.

Mauresmo first attained the top ranking on September 13, 2004, holding it for five weeks on that occasion. She was the fourteenth World No. 1 in women's tennis since the computer rankings began. She is well known for her powerful one-handed backhand and her strong net play. She is coached by Loïc Courteau.

French tennis star Amelie Mauresmo had to pull out from the Brisbane International due to having strained her thigh.

However, Mauresmo is hoping to have recovered well enough to be able to take part in the Australian Open later this month.

29-year-old Mauresmo was 4-0 behind in the semi-final match against Marion Bartoli when she was forced to retire from the game.

Mauresmo, who was the winner of the 2006 Australian Open, explained that she had been thinking about the forthcoming Grand Slam tournament when she decided to give up.

Mauresmo’s career has gone downhill over the past two years due mainly to injuries she has suffered, and she has dropped down to 23rd in the world rankings.

Mauresmo is having an MRI scan on Saturday to see how bad her injury is.

Nevertheless, Mauresmo will probably be fit enough to play in the first Grand Slam tournament of the season that is due to start on 19 January.

Hingis set a series of “youngest-ever” records before ligament injuries in both ankles forced her to withdraw temporarily from professional tennis in 2002 at the age of 22. After several surgeries and long recuperations, Hingis returned to the WTA tour in 2006. She then climbed to World No. 6 and won three singles titles. On November 1, 2007, after suffering from injuries for much of the year, Hingis announced her retirement from tennis while admitting she had tested positive for cocaine during Wimbledon in 2007. She denied using the drug. On January 4, 2008, she was banned from tennis for two years for the cocaine offense. She has stated that she will not return to professional tennis when this ban expires.
